| Monsanto Antwerp - The site
The Monsanto Antwerp production site was constructed in 1965 in a specially developed harbour and industrial area north of the city of Antwerp, Belgium.
The Monsanto site grew rapidly. By 1972, production included plasticizers, rubber chemicals, triallate for Avadex herbicide, ABS plastics, and Butvar resin for Saflex interlayer. Steady growth thereafter saw the addition of Gelva polymers for adhesives, glyphosate for Roundup and other herbicides, Butvar RB resin, and 4ADPA intermediate for PPD Rubber Chemicals. Monsanto now operates these units either for its own businesses or for different multinational guest companies, including Solutia, Flexsys, Ferro Corporation and National Starch.
